Teen birth rates rising in rural and remote NSW
Teenagers in non-metropolitan areas were almost three times as likely as their metropolitan counterparts to give birth before they turned 20. It’s bucking a global trend. Family Planning states that it’s due to a lack of contraception and abortion services. It’s pushing for nurses to be approved and funded by Medicare to offer easy-to-use forms of birth control that can last for a number of years.

Since the last Newsletter, we have supported three more mums. Below is a report regarding one of them:
HH was contacted by ‘R’ seeking help for her pregnant friend who was due to have her baby soon and didn’t have anything for her baby. Her friend has only been in Australia for a few months. HH provided ‘D’ with baby items and food hampers that she needed and took her to her latest antenatal appointments. She has had her beautiful daughter now, as you can see in the photo, and is very happy with the help and support she received from HH. She thanks God for this help. ‘D’ and her husband are Christians.
We have encouraged them to trust God to supply their needs.
We would like to acknowledge Smithfield Baptist Church’s help with delivering meals postpartum to ‘D’. We’re very grateful for their support.
